DogPACT is a full-service behavioral training company located in Long Beach, California. DogPACT was founded in 1996 by Terry Long, CPDT-KA, an accomplished trainer and winner of a 2006 Dog Writers of America Maxwell Award.
Our philosophy is founded upon the scientific principles of learning theory and the use of positive reinforcement. Our mission is to improve communication between people and dogs, thereby strengthening the human-animal bond in our society.
DogPACT is committed to the highest standards of professional training practices and methodologies. Thus, you can be assured that our programs are based on solid science, the input of veterinary and applied animal behaviorists, and hundreds of hours of continuing education. Each of our trainers is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA). In addition to achieving this widely respected certification, each trainer has hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of hands-on experience. We apply our understanding of canine behavior and learning to three areas of interest:
Our behavioral focus means that we take a wholistic approach to all the dogs and people we have the pleasure of working with. This means, for example, going beyond teaching a dog not to jump on people, but looking further at other areas in life where the dog can practice better impulse control. This broader and deeper behavioral focus supports DogPACT’s mission of helping people understand how to communicate with their dogs instead of just stopping unwanted behaviors.
We leverage our expertise by working with clients who share in this philosophy. This requires commitment to understanding how dogs really learn, practicing positive reinforcement training techniques, including clicker training, and dedicating the time to meet their dogs’ emotional, intellectual, and physical needs. DogPACT clients who adopt this wholistic philosophy are a testament to a shared mission and philosophy.
DogPACT … a love of dogs … knowledge … experience … expertise … improving the human-dog connection.
